Jolene Lathrop

Dr. Lathrop was born and raised in Baldwinsville, New York, and has grown up with animals of all sizes her entire life. She could not see herself living anywhere else. She has been taking her Yorkshire Terrier, Tinkerbell, to LVAH since 2009. Once she completed her pre-veterinarian education at Alfred University and earned her Bachelor's degree in 2016, she began working at the LVAH as a kennel assistant and instantly fell in love with the practice. She loved the entire staff and veterinary team - they were amazing to work with and provided great mentorship. Dr. Lathrop attended Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine in 2017, which is located on the island of St. Kitts in the Caribbean, and completed her clinical year at The Ohio State University where she received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in September 2020.

She rejoined the LVAH veterinary team in October 2020 and could not imagine working at any other clinic. She graduated as a mixed animal veterinarian, but her passion is with small animals, specifically dogs and cats. Dr. Lathrop very much enjoys animal behavior and has pursued that passion since her pre-veterinary studies. She currently lives with a 13-year-old Yorkie named Tinkerbell, a 4-year-old Calico cat named Bella, two parakeets (Sassy and Indigo), and just introduced a new kitten into her family named Shilo. She is very family-oriented and tries to spend as much time with them as she possibly can. In her free time, she enjoys horseback riding and competing in the hunter jumper division, which she has done since she was 11 years old.
